Cable Insulation Damage Indicator UPIK for Measuring Leakage Current and Resistance

The built-in pointer allows to supply to the investigated objects a specified DC voltage in the range from 1 kV to 15 kV and to determine the leakage current and cable insulation resistance at the selected test voltage relative to ground. The UPIK fault indicator has sufficient power to test the insulation of long power cables (several kilometres) with leakage resistance up to 1mA at test voltages up to 15kV.

The UPIC can be operated in both field and laboratory conditions.

OBJECTIVITY checking of insulation integrity against earth in installations with rated voltage from 220 V to 15 kV; determination of cable damage type ("Floating breakdown", "Short circuit"); finding the defective cable (directional identification); control of newly laid lines; measurement of load resistance at different values of voltage on it.
