Electromechanical Drive EMP-DF for Precision Motion Control Applications

The design of the EMP-DF is based on a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor with an angular displacement sensor (multi-turn absolute encoder). The motor transmits the torque to a gear reducer. The torque is then transferred to a roller screw mechanical transmission, which converts the rotary motion into a linearly reciprocating motion. A two-stage gearbox with a chevron gear is used in the design to levelling axial loads. Due to the larger angle of inclination of the teeth, the smoothness of running is increased, which increases the service life of the gearbox. Smaller dimensions, compared to helical and spur gears, allow to reduce the size and weight of the gear in order to reduce inertia.
